Robot Restaurant Wins Innovation Award

We are absolutely delighted that Hutech Robotics’ first ever customer has won a prestigious award for innovation in business!

The restaurant TCB Bolton won the ‘INNOVATION IN BUSINESS’ Award in the Build Back Bolton Business Awards 2022, hosted by The Bolton News, with headline sponsors Bolton Council.

It was a fantastic night on Thursday 22 September, at The Premier Suit, Bolton Wanderers Stadium, when in front of the good and great of the Bolton business community, TCB Bolton, Unlimited Dining Experience, carried off the prestigious award for demonstrating great innovation and resilience during the Covid19 period, when many restaurants and other businesses closed, some never to reopen but TCB moved quickly to respond and reinvent themselves as a ‘table service buffet restaurant’.

When most restaurants, especially ‘buffet’ style restaurants were closing because of the government’s restrictions during the recent pandemic, TCB management were hard at work looking for ways to remain open and serve their loyal customers who still wanted to enjoy a night out with friends and great food during what was otherwise a pretty wretched time.

The solution came in the form of an app to order your food and robots to deliver it to your table.

The app was developed in-house and meant that images of all menu dishes could be viewed on smartphone, after downloading an app once in the restaurant and ordered to be delivered directly to the table by Bellabot robot waiters, which meant that food could be delivered directly from kitchen to table with minimal contact from front-of-house staff, further improving the covid safe environment.

These innovative measures and adaptations brought further benefits as the country emerged from the various lockdowns and restrictions, as the hospitality sector began to suffer from a staffing crisis, which continues today, with fewer people wanting to work in the sector, stretching front-of-house teams to their limit in some cases but the use of robots supporting servers meant that yet again TCB could remain open, leaving their human servers to engage with customers while the robots did all the running back and forth from kitchen to tables delivering food and their customers loved t!nada TV

All TCB restaurants now operate with at least two robots and in some cases three or four, with the family of serving and clearing robots being firm favourites with their customers, both young and old.

With all that going on in the past two years, it’s no wonder the judges awarded TCB Bolton the Innovation In Business award and we look forward to continuing to support them to serve their loyal customers in Bolton and around the North West.

TCB has restaurants in Blackpool, Bolton, Liverpool, St Helens and Wigan, with TCB Bury due to reopen in the next few weeks, which will be an almost totally robotic experience.
